Information You Submit
Names, phone numbers, and addresses entered into search forms are sent to the outside provider that produces those results. Our servers do not retain a copy of those searches. A message sent to us contains the information supplied in that message and is used to respond.
Routine Technical Data
Hosting systems may create standard logs, including an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. We review that information in aggregate for service, security, and traffic measurement. Cookies or similar tools can support basic analytics and advertising measurement where used.
How Information Is Used
The limited data described above supports operation, troubleshooting, traffic measurement, and improvement of the reference. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles from the directory pages.
External Services and Links
County, state, court, library, archive, and sponsored-search services linked here operate under their own privacy practices. Their rules control information entered on those services, including a query submitted through a sponsored result.
Service Providers and Disclosures
Hosting and support providers can process server logs for us. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. We disclose information when a valid legal process requires disclosure and otherwise only as needed to operate the service.
Security and Retention
The reference uses an encrypted connection. Logs are retained only for the operational purposes described here. Since there are no user accounts, the service does not keep a visitor password or account profile.
Visitors Under 18
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect a minor’s personal information. If a visitor believes a minor has sent information to us, contact us so it can be removed.
Your Privacy Choices
Depending on location, a visitor may have rights to request access, correction, or deletion of personal data held by a service. Michigan has no general consumer-privacy statute identified in the project research; Michigan Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.231 et seq., concerns government public records rather than this private reference. Because we keep very little, a request usually involves the contact mailbox and available logs. Use the Contact page. A request to correct or remove a government record belongs with its city, county, state, court, or library custodian.
Policy Revisions
A revised policy will appear on this page. Continued use following a posted revision indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
